2024 - George Edwards
George Edwards enlisted in the U.S. army in August 2007 as a Healthcare Specialist. Upon completion of basic and advanced individual training he attended and graduated from Airborne school in Fort Moore, GA. After Airborne school George went on to attend and graduate from the Special Operations Combat Medic course at Fort Liberty NC and was assigned to 4th Psychological Group (A) as a medic. In December 2009 George attended Special Forces Assessment and Selection (SFAS) and earned the coveted Green Beret in April 2012. In May 2012 George Edwards was assigned to SFOD-A 5324 as the Junior Medical Sergeant and would work his way up to Senior Medical Sergeant. In 2016 George was assigned as an instructor at the Joint Special Operations Medical Training Center and then in 2019 was assigned to SFOD-A 7323 as the Senior Medical Sergeant. In 2024 he was awarded the Healthcare Professionals Scholarship and commissioned to 1st LT and attends West Virginia School of Medicine as a rising 1st year medical student. In 17 years of service, 12 as a Green Beret, George has been deployed multiple times and has acted in Junior and Senior Medical Sergeant, Team Sergeant, and Senior Enlisted Medical Advisor roles. Currently George lives in Morgantown WV with his wife Jessica and their three children.
2024 - Ignacio de Anquin
Ignacio de Anquin enlisted in the US Army as an 18X in 2016. After completing Special Forces Assessment and Selection (SFAS), he was designated to serve as a medic. Ignacio finished the Special Operations Combat Medic (SOCM) course in 2018. By 2020, he began to serve as a Special Forces Medical Sergeant (18D) at the 7th Special Forces Group. In 2024, he was accepted for the Healthcare Provider Scholarship Program (HPSP) to attend the West Virginia University School of Medicine. After completing medical school, Ignacio hopes to continue to serve in the US Army as a physician.

2024 - Gunnery Sergeant Connor Jennings
Connor went to USMC recruit training center after graduating from Torrington High School in 2009. He has been in the Marine Corps ever since and currently holds the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. Connor is participating in the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program at the Univeristy of Maryland and the Naval ROTC. He is currently a junior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in history. Connor plans on finishing the rest of his military career as a Marine officer. He wants to have a positive impact on those he leads and help them reach their own goals.
2023 - Travis Turlis
We are pleased to announce University of Maryland student Travis Turlis is the Foundation's 2023-2024 stipend recipient. Travis is an Army veteran and was a member of an Arctic Warfare unit. He is currently working on his MBA.

2019 - 2021 Joshua Wyatt
Joshua Wyatt has been the recipient of the MSG Nick Sheperty Foundation annual stipend for the last three years. He served for four years in the United States Marine Corps. Joshua is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (the 2019, 2020, and 2021 stipends were gifted by the Sheperty family).
